Additional CTIM Resources

From FreePik.es

AAAS STEM Education continues to honor Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month with a variety of Spanish-language STEM resources. We recognize the importance of having them available to teachers, students, and families. Here is a list of another eight free CTIM (ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería, y matemáticas) educational collections and resources that we think are useful:

AULAPLANETA

AulaPlaneta provides the tools and resources specially designed to assimilate the contents of Physics and Chemistry and take advantage of the possibilities offered by ICT (information and communication technology), such as animations, interactives, experiments, etc. In the Content Bank you can find encyclopedic information, multimedia resources and current news related to Science. In addition, they have a selection of open online resources that can be used for day-to-day life in the Physics and Chemistry classroom.

CIENCIA DE LA NASA

NASA leads the nation on a great journey of discovery, seeking new knowledge and understanding of our planet Earth, our Sun and solar system, and the universe out to its farthest reaches and back to its earliest moments of existence. CIENCIAS organizes its work into three broad scientific pursuits: Ciencias Espaciales, Ciencias Terrestres, y Ciencia en la Estación. Another element is a page to meet and learn from Hispanic NASA engineers.

COLORÍN COLORADO

Colorín Colorado is a national multimedia project that offers a wealth of bilingual, research-based information, activities, and advice for educators and families of English language learners (ELLs). Their aim is to help children learn to read... and succeed!

E SERVICIOS EDUCATIVOS

E Servicios Educativos (ESE) present a selection of free online resources on physics, chemistry and biology suitable for both teachers and students of all levels, including mainly secondary and higher education. Most present interactive activities, some offer explanatory videos, theoretical materials with their respective practical exercises and documents to download the PDF, questionnaires to affirm users knowledge and even laboratory experiments that can be carried out at home.

VISIONLEARNING

Visionlearning offers free readings, activities, and other resources for students in both English and Spanish. It is easy for users to toggle between the two languages (see the big red button in the upper right). All of the associated quizzes and glossary words are also available in Spanish. They also have several profiles of Hispanic scientists.

SPANISH MAMA

Reading is one of the best ways to develop language naturally, and every home or classroom needs a good stash of children’s books in Spanish. They’re far better than flashcards or worksheets, because they provide language in context. Browse the collections of books in Spanish. Some books are authentic (written originally in Spanish, for Spanish speakers) and some are translated.

PASO PARTNERS

Paso Partners in Bilingual Instruction, affiliated with SEDL and the American Institutes for Research, provide resource designed to help elementary school teachers organize their classrooms and instructional activities in order to increase achievement of Hispanic primary-grade children whose first language is not English. The guides offer a curriculum plan, instructional strategies and activities, suggested teacher and student materials, and assessment procedures. Bilingual lessons on Five Senses, Spiders, Dinosaurs, Plants & Seeds, Human Body, Health, Oceans, Weather, Matter, Sun & Stars, Sound, Simple Machines.

UNITE

Unite for Literacy aims to create and share culturally and linguistically relevant picture books with emergent readers around the world.
