New Lesson Available for Beauty and the Beak

A new lesson is available to accompany the 2018 winner of the picture book category of the AAAS/Subaru SB&F Prize for Excellence in Science Books, Beauty and the Beak: How Science, Technology, and a 3D-Printed Beak Rescued a Bald Eagle by Deborah Lee Rose and Jane Veltkamp.

The lesson is intended for use in grades 3-5 and includes corresponding concepts for the Common Core State Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards. It features hands-on activities, including one developed by the authors of the book. The lesson, which will help students learn how scientists and engineers use their knowledge of biology, engineering, and technology to design a replacement body part for an animal, is now available at Science NetLinks.
